Who is Central Joint Fire – EMS?

Central Joint Fire – EMS District was created by the taxpayers of Batavia Township and Batavia Village. In 2001 Batavia Township and Batavia Village agreed that they needed to combine resources to more effectively manage the emergency services that were provided.

How do I obtain a burn permit?

Please call or stop by the firehouse; we will be glad to assist you. There are strict regulations on open burning so don’t be afraid to ask us how to help or you can visit http://epa.ohio.gov/dapc/general/openburning.aspx for guidelines.

Why does a fire truck respond with the paramedic unit?

There are actually 2 different answers to that question. First, if the paramedic unit is on another detail, the fire truck responds to begin care for the sick or injured patient. Either one of our other paramedic units respond from another station or mutual aid units are used. Secondly, The paramedic unit responds with 2 personnel. If the patient is unconscious or the crew thinks that they may need more help the fire truck will respond for assistance.

Does the Fire District have business hours?

Yes, the firefighter/medics work a 24/48 hour schedule based on a 3 day rotation. They are on duty for 24 hours and off duty for 48 hours. The Chief, Asst. Chief, District Chief and Fiscal Officer work Monday thru Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What area is covered by the District?

Central Joint Fire – EMS District covers all of Batavia Township and Batavia Village.
